Mandatory Alojamento Local
Equipment

A Fire Extinguisher is mandatory in the kitchen of your Alojamento Local property. The equipment must be serviced annually and dated accordingly.  Corresponding visible signage must also be displayed.

A Fire Blanket must be visible and accessible near your cooking areas. Instructional signage must be displayed.

The first-aid bag/box must be marked with an appropriate label (white cross on a green background).

According to the General Health Directorate's instructions, the minimum content of a first-aid bag/box is:

​

• Compresses of different sizes

• Band-aids

• Adhesive roller

• Non-elastic ligature

• Antiseptic solution (unit dose)

• Ethyl alcohol 70% (unit dose)

• Physiological serum (unit dose)

• Blunt-edge scissors

• Tweezers

• Disposable latex gloves

• Content Inventory

Visible Emergency Signage must be clearly displayed. This includes: 

• Emergency Exits 

• Visible explanation of the 112 emergency number;

• Location of First Aid Box

• Electrical Box

• Gas Box (if applicable)

• Information on the availability of a complaint book

• Acrylic identification plate “AL” affixed (mandatory for all alojamento local categories except for residences).

House instruction book in 4 languages (two of those being Portuguese and English), containing information about:

• Collection and separation of waste procedures;

• Instructions on how to operate household appliances;

• Rules of no disturbance of the neighbourhood and immediate neighbours;

• Any condominium information and rules on how the private space is to be used as well as how the common areas are to be used.

• Telephone and email contacts of the person operating the AL or their agent.
